my boss asked me to go live in her 10 bedroom house in the east hamptons for 3 weeks at the end of may. i am moving out of my apartment may 10th and she said i could move in there for free.
i'd be a "manager" telling everyone there what to do and making sure it gets done, putting furniture here, hanging posters there... they are in the process of renovating this house so the only people that are there are maids and construction workers. she said there is a pool and its by the beach, i could work every other day. i talked to her 12 year old daughter and she was skeptical. she said that i'd be there alone and it'd be 'lonely.'
PROS
-good money
-by the beach
-good expirience dealing with construction and design
CONS
-be two hours away from manhattan, which means i couldn't hang out with any friends.
-i think i'd be the only one sleeping there.......
-i have no idea what she expects. i dont know if i'll have furniture, if i'll have to get my own food, if she'll let me use the car, if anyone else will ever be there...
what are your thoughts?
and after staying there for a month, what do i do for the rest of the summer and where do i go to school?
THINGS I HAVE BEEN HEARING FROM PEOPLE HERE

Solution to all your problems: come to California for the summer.
But first take the job. You have to stop over thinking these things. It is a cool job and a good opportunity and if it really is that bad you can just quit.
Then go back to either your same school or to the Biz. I don't know why you would go to slick either.
So... see you in a few months?
I had to make a crazy decision like this too. I prayed about it A LOT. I felt like I wasn't getting an answer, so I decided to make the decision on my own. I sat down at the computer and started to type an email to Ohio saying I wouldn't go. I got THE sickest feeling in my stomach and couldn't keep typing. So..I slept on it, woke up, and changed my email to an acceptance. I felt such peace after that and knew I had gotten my answer. That was a long process, I hope you have time to go through all that. You should probably take the job too.
Bottom Line: The Hamptons? For three weeks? In a mansion? Once in a lifetime. I say take it. You can meditate about what to do after that while you're soaking rays at the beach and sipping fruity drinks.
So I think, if you can take it, staying in New York could be a great career move. When applying for a job right out of school, any experience is going to help you out a ton. But Lizzie is right:
D&C 9 8-9
But, behold, I say unto you, that you must study it out in your mind; then you must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your bosom shall burn within you; therefore, you shall feel that it is right.
9 But if it be not right you shall have no such feelings, but you shall have a stupor of thought that shall cause you to forget the thing which is wrong; therefore, you cannot write that which is sacred save it be given you from me.
I've also found that when I don't really feel like I'm getting an answer, if I take action I begin to feel whether it's right or wrong. So you've thought about it, asked advice and prayed about it. Now take a step into the darkness and keep a close eye on the spirit.
ya...what he said.
