last year, thanksgiving was when i was at my lowest health wise.
this was my view for a week. here we are at 5pm, after some procedures that i don't really remember and before the hida scan.
i don't think i had feelings about the holiday, but i do remember asking my dad to bring prim's turkey sockies for her to wear! too big and soo cute.
dr. simpson is who delivered prim just a week and a half earlier.
i think the dr's were sort of getting desperate by this time and started ordering every procedure they could think of. i slept for an hour during the hida scan and any time i woke up during it i dreamed of drinking water. the guy doing the scan promised i could have a water bottle when i was finished. i was so relieved to be done and immediately asked for a one and he looked at jon who told me i was going right into surgery for a d&c and i couldn't drink anything. the OR was totally empty except for the doctors and nurses working with me. my dad was home with the rest of the family eating thanksgiving dinner and jon was in the waiting room. toward the end of my surgery, my dad and jon's dad brought him his thanksgiving dinner.
this was at 10 pm. i'd survived my procedure and got to hold my baby! i look like i'm in pretty good spirits and this is the first thing i kind of remember.
this was at midnight while i was getting a blood transfusion. i'd lost a lot of blood while i gave birth so i got a liter of blood. the next day i got another liter since i lost even more blood during the d&c. so thankful for people who donate their blood! although this was my lowest, it was also my turning point. the d&c as well as the HIDA scan showed nothing abnormal. the doctors think that the full day of not breastfeeding and getting two blood transfusions is what helped tremendously.
this year we woke up and went to a church activity. it is tradition that the ward does a 5k up to the temple and a one mile walk through the park thanksgiving morning. two years ago we ran to the temple and this year jon, kathy, prim and i walked through the park. we were really late so we weren't following anyone and got lost so actually ended up walking two miles. when we got home, prim went down for a nap and jon and i watched catching fire while stuffing graduation announcement envelopes! thanksgiving dinner was pleasant although prim was done after about twenty minutes and grandpa (who isn't feeling well) was done about ten minutes after that. our dinner was pretty quick and we didn't even have time to say what we were thankful for! after dinner we played with prim and visited, then jon and i went to old navy for some quick christmas shopping!
it was a laid back and pleasant/healthy thanksgiving. i'm so grateful to be home with my family and able to walk two miles. last year walking to the bathroom was a huge feat. i'm thankful to have Jon. thankful for a healthy baby girl and a healthy and growing baby boy/girl in the belly. i'm very blessed!
