Thank you Mrs. S for giving me something to do while procrastinating doing real work. 

A- My AIR CONDITIONER is set on: off. we don't use it very often, but when we do it works really well.

B- My BEDROOM theme is: grey and yellow contemporary. i'm stuck in a rut with it...but i'll figure it out. 

C- The CAR in the driveway is: 2004 nissan altima. my dad just recently took his name off the title so its allll mine!

D- My DESK looks: pretty good. i cleaned it off yesterday because we had people over for jon's birthday. i also hung more stuff up which makes me realllllly happy!

E- The EXACT time I wake up daily is: between 8:30-10am.

F- The FIRST thing I wash in the shower is: My hair.

G- My GARAGE is filled with: empty boxes for all our wedding gifts ("in case we move"...), our bikes, my car, food storage.....etc. oh and the hideous blinds from our bedroom that i took down.

H- My HOUSE is: bigger than what we could afford in the outside world.

I- If you peeked INSIDE my bedroom you'd see: an unmade bed and messy dressers.

J- My favorite JUICE is: currently orange mango. yum yum. thanks amanda and nephi.

K- The best part of my KITCHEN is: our 60 year old kitchen table, the book case my uncle made for us by hand, and the dry sink. one of the first things my mom and dad bought as married couple. best part about it--they cut out the back so that they could put their tv in it.

L- The LAST person who visited my home was: jon's friends. friends from the shop, my cousin, and our neighbors. it was a fun night.

M- The last piece of MAIL for me was: a letter from my granny:)

N- My NEIGHBORS think I'm: loud. luckily i married someone who loves to sing as often and as loud as i do.

O- If you OPENED my fridge you'd see: lots of orange juice and rootbeer. jon's creme de le creme soda that he got for his bday, hamburger patties and leftovers.

P- My last house PARTY was: last night. a surprise BBQ for my one and only.

Q- A QUICK meal I like to fix is: tuna fish sandwich.

R- My favorite ROOM of the house is: the bedroom because its the only room that has started to get decorated...but i love our whole house.

S- The SHAMPOO brand I use: usually biolage but currently pantene pro-v...

T- My largest TELEVISION is: the only TV in our house. in the living room.

U- UNDER my bed you will find: my stuffed animal and a bag of jon's stuff that he doesnt know what to do with...

V- The last time I VACUUMED was: yesterday before the party. 

W- Looking out my WINDOW I see: my cat being nuts in the window sill and our shared backyard. i can see through the houses behind us to the street behind our house.

X- I wish I had X-TRA: energy. i always wake up tired and my whole day i'm tired. boooo.

Y- My YARD is: about 12x12 and contains two rocking chairs, a shelf for my plant and gardening tools, the litter box, jon's grill and my hanging fuchsia and hummingbird feeder. its cement. outside of our little gate is grass and a play set we share.

Z- ZZZZZZZ My bedtime is: usually around 11 or 12. after jon's been asleep and i've read for a couple hours. so annoying.

7 Things About Me

1.  I have recently rediscovered the joys of playing Mario Kart 64 into the wee hours of the morning. 

2. My dad helped me buy a Nissan Altima for my high school graduation. I plan on driving it until it's kaput.

3. I had a lazy eye when I was little. Thankfully, my dad got me surgery to get it fixed. I wore an eye patch for awhile. My sister Amanda told me my eyebrow was going to be ripped off when they took the patch off.  

4. My gramma got me a kitten when I was little. She told me it was a girl and so I named her Chrissy. When my other Grandma took Chrissy to get 'fixed', the doctors told her it was a boy. In fear of making me feel weird, my gran did not tell me Chrissy was a boy. Years later, one of my sisters spilled the beans. To this day, my whole family calls Chrissy "it" when referring to the cat. 

5. In 11th grade, my dad gave me a certain amount of Weight Watchers points that I had to eat a day to help me gain weight. Look at me now, worked like a charm!

6. A few weeks ago, Jon tried teaching me how to drive his truck. It ended in tears. He drove the truck home.

7. My new baking obsession has prepared Jon and I for the upcoming long, hard winter. We thought we could each use an extra layer preparing for the cold.

new blog title.

Okay, so i've never really had an official blog name.

december 2007. 
i was moving to nyc. 

a couple nights before i moved, my dear sister lizzie said i needed to start a blog to document.

so i did.

 it was titled "New York, Not so good to me."

rough couple months there. 

a couple months into it, i thought "hey i kind of like it here."

so i changed it to "new york, pretty good to me."

a few months later, i made a very sad but obviously life changing decision to move home.

then came the title "Home again, home again, jiggity jig."

after i'd been home for about a year, i realized that "home again home again" didn't really apply.

so, not knowing what else to do, i changed my blog title to my name.

"alexandra robinson."

that lasted for a good while.

until mr lucky proposed to miss luckier, and i knew 'robinson' wouldn't stay for long. 

knowing this, i changed it to "Alexandra Robinson-Hagerman."

my own name for a blog title is so silly.

so i decided on a new name, that will last for at least three years.

i don't want to make my blog seem like i'm living through jon, but the military is a huge part of both our lives.

so the name will be

Letters From Base.

because-HELLO!

i live on base!

i'm so excited to actually have a real title!

and the amazing Amanda Marie fixed my blog up a bit and made my fabulous header.

i am such a fan of these.

You think you know me, but you haven't the slightest clue.

I'm the brunette standing behind you in line at the grocery store, eyeing the newest "Support Our Troops" magnet while paging through the latest issue of Modern Bride. The look on her face is complacent and her thoughts are thousands of miles away on some military base she's only been verbally described of over the phone.

I'm the young girl in the next car with the windows rolled up and the glassy visage only on the road ahead. The radio is set to one of the local country stations which is currently playing "Letters From Home." But you can't hear it because you're talking to a family member or a friend on your cell phone. You catch a glance at the Marines sticker on the bumper of her car but you don't know that when the song reaches "My dearest love it's almost dawn, I've been laying here all night long, wondering where you might be...", her heart breaks a thousand times.

I'm the young woman who is planning an entire wedding on her own, with only the little input she can get from her husband-to-be over the phone.

I'm the girl who visits the Marine Corps Wives website at odd hours of the night to find some kind of comfort for that lonesome feeling that has settled in the pit of her stomach.

I'm the woman who has fought an inner battle, trying to accept the path the man she loves has chosen. I'm the woman who will willingly sacrifice her family, her home to follow a man clear across the country. I'm the woman who never asked for this but deals with it without complaint.

I'm the young woman who swells with pride every time she sees her Marine standing tall in his dress blues. I'm the one who spots a Marine sticker, license plate, or flag and feels a connection with its owner, hoping that maybe she's not alone in this melancholy, sacrificial situation.

I'm the one who hates war but knows that it's a necessary thing. I'm the one who supports her President, regardless of her own opinion because he is the boss of her soon to be husband, because he's the man who our troops are fighting under.

I am the young woman who tries her hardest to go about her everyday life.

I am the young woman who tries to concentrate during her classes and do the job she gets paid to do.

I am the young woman who hates sleeping alone.

I am the young woman who closes her eyes and pretends that the man she loves is laying right there next to her, his arms wrapped around her.

are you looking for a couple different easy way to make me mad?

i'll help you out.

1. i absolutely LOVE being parented. i grew up without my mom, and my dad isn't one to tell me what to do. i think he may have tried once. so

if you're thinking about giving me advice i never asked for, please do.

2. known fact-i have anxiety. i have learned how to take control of it...for the most part. i no longer hyperventilate when going on vacations at least. but when i get one simple text that says "hey...i have bad news." i lose it. especially when coming from my marine. (I can't graduate. I'm getting deployed tomorrow. I actually just found out I joined for 8 years instead of four. I can't come home for Christmas) my mind. goes. NUTS.

well both of these things happened yesterday, which turned the day into something so, so great. well, boyf resolved both of these issues. turns out the bad news he had for me, was as bad as i expected, which is so annoying.

after he sent me the "I have bad news" text, it took him forever to explain what the bad news was. he had duty over thanksgiving, so he definitely can't come home. my good mood was deflated. i just left school, got in dads car, listened to demi lovato (obvious) and cried my way home. my bad mood caused tension in jon's day which only got worse. then he fell asleep before we made up which is another thing that i love. luckily, he wakes up in the night when he has to go to the bathroom (not all can be so lucky. not me. just in general.) and text me at like midnight my time. i got on ichat and we chatted the night away.

he decided to do a very good thing and give me a surprise.

To Our Men:
1.) If she wasn't emotional before, that is all about to change. (HA!)
2.) You getting a higher rank could just mean an automatic free lay.
3.) Get her a pair of dog tags, ASAP. This is crucial, she will never take them off.
4.) Most of the time, you losing reception during training is your fault. Though, she will eventually understand.
5.) Most of the time, everything is your fault. This especially goes for when she is pregnant.
6.) She WILL start talking like your guys and you talk, including using your last names.
7.) Her patriotism could out-do most of your men... she will be proud... VERY proud.

10.) Every week she'll have "another song" that makes her think of you when you're away. And she'll cry to it, even when you're in the same room.
11.) She'll make 5 million friends online, and talk to you about them all the time because her "old friends just don't understand" like they do.
12.) Don't be shocked when she just drops civilian chicks out of her life like flies. She mostly does this when they complain to her.
13.) DO NOT if you love her, say anything about you not wanting to make her wait for you... TRUST me men, YOU ARE WORTH every breath to these women, or they wouldn't be here.
14.) Most women actually do LOVE it when you are sweaty and dirty, even the girlie girls. It's sexy as hell!
15.) Only bring up the field once, say it clear, and don't bring it up again. We will remember the time, the dates like stone inside our mind. Don't remind us.
16.) You are our hero. That isn't us being cute, it's us swelling with pride, feeling like a princess every time we glance over and you're standing there.
17.) Don't worry about waking her up when you get a chance to call, trust me, she's NOT sleeping. If she is, she's been waiting for you to call all night and she fell asleep next to the phone.
18.) Leave at least 3 of your shirts for her...she'll wear them all the time and if she doesn't wear them out she WILL wear them to sleep.
19.) No matter what she was like before, she is tougher and harder than a rock now. She can handle anything, she will get through it, tears or no tears.
20.) Don't be discouraged or taken back from her strength. It comes with territory. When in your arms, she's still your princess, soft and sweet.
21.) Your kids might see mommy as the one in charge for a while, it's okay, they will respect you, just give it time.
22.) EVERYTHING in her life will be complicated, so she might not always get the simple things you say to her.
23.) She will spend hours to look good on cam and pics for you.

random facts.

*In all my 15 years of schooling, I've fallen asleep in class one time. In the same respect, I've probably watched 10 movies in my whole life from beginning to end without falling asleep. Its like movies are my lullaby.

*I literally get sick to my stomach when I see gross things like blood, people crashing on their skateboards, toenails falling off, war movies, etc.... I was at the dentist today and he was talking to me about how he was going to remove my wisdom teeth and talking about sockets and stitches blah blah and I left his office feeling sick.

*Most of the time I can front that I'm not ticklish. Bryson used to tickle me day in and day out so I finally was able to take it and pretend it didn't tickle. But I'm very ticklish.

*I look forward to every Thursday night when I get paid because I LOVE writing down a list of what money goes where and how to pay this off and how much this adds up to. It really is my favorite day of the week, but in high school I loathed math...

*I think my laugh changes like once every six months. Its so weird... Right now it kind of resembles Nicole Richie's laugh in the Simple Life 1 when she was chubby and really annoying. But keep in mind, that's just it echoing around in my empty head, I don't actually know if it resembles her laugh.

Favorite shampoo/conditioner: I usually switch it up because i'm nervous that my hair will 'get used to' the shampoo i'm using. i mostly used biolage though and during the summer i used the john freida blonde shampoo and it actually lightened my hair. so my fave is biolage and my least fave is herbal essences. sorry lizzie, i dont like the smell. and it makes your hair fall out.

Favorite hair product: as bad as this sounds amanda...probably my hair spray. i bought it over the internet so i didnt know what it was like or anything, but it works so well !

c-system
its enviornmentally friendly and smells awful, but it is areosol so its not too much and never too little.
its probably also my least favorite hair product because i'm sure i can get an enviornmentally friendly aerosol that works just as well and actually smells good! love/hate

Favorite makeup: bare minerals and mac mascara. i got the dazzle lash which i love but it ran out really fast, so i do not reccomend it. but i usually like mac's mascara, chanel mascara with the rubber wand is also really good. and not that expensive.

Favorite perfume: i love chanel: chance and vera wang: princess.
least favorite is all of the celebrities perfume that they put out and probably never smelled. they all smell tacky. and i dont like marc jacobs.

Favorite Vitamin: what is that? i remember taking a tiny pink pill every day when i was little and i loved it.....i dont know anything about it anymore though so i'll probably never have it again...

Diet Supplement: dont take any diet supplements....

Favorite must have of all time: well. lame but the medicated chap stick.

utah requires chapstick at all times. men and women. (its my favorite thing to see boys unload their pockets and have chapstick in it. it seems so feminine, but so normal). the medicated kind tingles, ps.

Favorite store: of 08? macy's! saved me. i loved american apparel, urban outfitters, and H&M in ny, though. cheap and fun clothing.

Favorite Jeans: my joes have been my best friend since high school. fit like a glove.

1. What is your occupation right now? Receptionist at some random. Aka, Pam Beesly. ( Thank you Kelly! i do the same thing )

5. Can you drive a stick shift? thats a tough question. i had a friend teach me how to do it in may, and i did really well. i was driving around all by myself and stalled it like twice so yeah i thought i did. then lyndsi and i made this kid leave us his car and promised we knew how to drive stick (but under the impression that we both knew how to drive it) well turns out neither of us did, ODD. so after an hour of stalling this kids car who we met hours ago, we finally called our friend in st george to come save us. we were laughing so hard we were crying and i was an anxious mess, so shakey and weak.

6. Last person you spoke to on the phone? my grandma last night. and at work today.

9. What is your favorite sport to watch on TV? i am lucky that no boys read my blog (except my cousins. i love you guys.) because i'm coming out right now. i HATE watching sports on tv. so much. as soon as i get to a friends house and espn is on, i am immediately turned off. and bored.

10. What is your favorite drink? i drink warm water 24.7, milk with pizza, and italian sodas if i ever go out. if you get a chance, get a raspberry vanilla italian soda. so good to me...so good to me.

11. Have you ever dyed your hair? yes i have. i used to do it in high school with those home kits with my friends. pretty funny. but i havent now for a couple years.

12. Favorite food? i like pizza, and i love chocolate raspberry balance bars. and i love my grans home cooking.

"watched" or WATCHED? i went to the house bunny the other night and i loved it, it is so cute. so lame but so funny. and last night ....watched walk the line. i love that movie and still dont know how it ends, though i've started it like three times. i always fall asleep..........

14. Favorite day of the year? different. last year my favorite day(s) were the few days before chase left, oddly enough. this year my favorite day was in feb when i surprised my family and came to visit. everyone was so happy to see me, which i totally didn't expect. i loved it.

How do you vent anger? drive and cry. one of my favorite books is Dreamland and the main charactors best friend cries and drives. i dont mean to, but i seem to always be in the car when i'm upset. and i listen to things like "saddest girl story", and "face down". then by the time i get out of the car i'm fine, AND no one knows i was ever upset. winwin.

i hate growing up.

i hate that i'll turn 20 soon.
