screamin' straight through texas [happy halloween!]

we had a fun time celebrating one of jon's favorite holiday's!! I think the best thing we did this month was get season passes to Six Flags!!! 

 six flags is right by our school, about 30 minutes from the house. 

we had such a fun time, there were hardly any people there so the lines were really short!

there was a target 5 minutes from our house in san diego. we would go there a lot if we were feeling blue, if we wanted to go out and not spend money, or if we wanted to buy decorations for holiday's. we don't go here as often because its further away now, but we still like to go walk around, it reminds us of home.

we had a pumpkin carving party with our roommates/homeowners/parents. it was very fun! kathy dressed up as a minion with all the other nurses at work! she is wearing grandpa's overalls. 

we moved into our new room this month!!!! it is three times bigger than the baby room we lived in for the first four months we were here. we get more privacy, more room and amazing views. we refer to it as 'the penthouse' and it gets a laugh like a quarter of the time. i'll write an entire post about the transformation of the room. it took a full 4 months. 

guess what, we hung out with our favorite people!!! lindsay and wes were our most favorite couple in san diego and we always have so much fun with them. we have the tradition of celebrating holiday's together and being a thousand miles away from each other did not change that. we bought the same treats, snacks and drinks so it was like we were hanging out in person and we just talked and laughed for hours. they even got their own virtual tour of our penthouse suite and you can too for a small fee. it was a lot of fun with them and we are already looking forward to our thanksgiving FaceTime extravaganza! we lovee them!

ewww we went to six flags again the last night it was open for halloween and it was so creepy! we went to this haunted house which was through a zombie infested high school. they did such a good job, the decorations were blowing my mind! it was just scary enough that i only had to plug one of my ears, but they did get me good a few times...

pumpkins in san diego did not last long, but pumpkins in san antonio only last a good 24 hours.

amanda came to texas and it was the best vacation ever!!!! i never wanted it to end.

 logan is such a lunatic.

our first day included whataburger, riding the horse, going downtown to see the alamo, gelato, cane sugar coke, and a river cruise down the river walk.

on saturday morning jon and i woke up and ran 8 miles. you read that right, 8 miles. then we drove up to Fredericksburg for chocolates, shopping, cowboy booting and all around texas-ing.

people could not take their eyes off of us. i don't think they could grasp the idea of twins in cowboy boots with adorable pants.

this shop has millions of peanut butter, salsa, honey, and jam flavors and they let you taste them all!! best place ever!

we drove back to san antone and got ready for country dancing!!!

ashton and her girlfriends definitely helped us feel at home there. they taught us the texas two step! it was so strange to be in texas in a country bar wearing cow boy boots surrounded by cow boys and girls. everyone knew the dances and they were all happy to be there. after a song ended I saw a girl put both hands up and yell "texas!" 

these are our 4 and 5 year old church babies! i am so glad amanda took these pictures because i never want to forget those little faces. and yeah, maybe we do allow our kids to sit on the floor if it is more comfortable. or maybe we just let hunter do it because of his big eyes and dimples, who knows.

if "muddin'" means driving a four wheeler through the mud, then i think we went muddin'.

we debated going boating because the forecast called for rain. we pulled up to the dock and it was pouring and cold. we decided to go for it anyway and the clouds cleared and the sun came out for the perfect boating weather. amanda and i tubed for awhile and i didn't breathe the entire time because we were laughing so hard. not an exaggeration, i honestly could not breathe because amanda and i were laughing at absolutely nothing.

we ended the weekend exactly the way we should have, with Rudy's BBQ. cream corn, beans, potato salad, brisket and Bluebell ice cream. my ice cream cone was good but didn't do much to ease my oncoming separation anxiety attack. i tweeted that dropping amanda off was like waking up from a complicated surgery getting my siamese twin's head removed from my shoulder and yeah. it was exactly like that.
it was the best weekend ever! amanda slept in our new room with us on the futon and we just chatted until we fell asleep. we shared clothes and laughed and laughed and laughed. if i could be surrounded 24/7 by any two people i would definitely choose jon and amanda and i'm confident they would both choose me and each other as well.

lastly, it is amanda's 27th birthday today. i wanted to post this picture because it is a very accurate description of our relationship. we've lived far from each other (1.5 hours in CA...i'd take that back anytime) for about 8 years now. i am so grateful for technology including computers, cell phones, cameras, facetime and airplanes and cars. we have distance between us but we are always in contact. we send each other pictures of our outfits all the time and feed off of each others style. in this photo i am very obviously feeding off of her style because she has the superior outfit. nevertheless, i'm grateful for her friendship and her great example of sticking to your beliefs, showing compassion on others, and fostering friendship with your girlfriends. i love her so much and wish her a happy 27th!!!!!!
