another fun weekend.

the weekend after valentine's day was a fun one for both jon and i. he decided to go camping with wes and jeno while i held down the fort.
i spent the weekend:
staring at my cat.
eating healthy. (this is seriously healthy for me)
 and getting lost.
katie and i did the black mountain hike. neither of us are hikers and we got confused more than once, but we made it to the top of the mountain and saw the most amazing view of san diego, mexico, and all the way up to orange county! she is a good friend. we've had our ups and downs, but the bond we formed while our guys were deployed got us through all of that. i'm already getting sentimental about who i am going to have to say goodbye to. ugh!
meanwhile, jon was doing this:
and trying to tip his truck:
the biggest part of the weekend was running my first 10k!!!!
my horse trainer and i ran it together. she runs half marathons all the time, so she inspired me to do this.
(we have a 5k in a couple weeks with jon as well!)
i did better than i thought and am happy about my constant pace. my goal was to finish it in 1:15 and never walk and i achieved both goals. it was so much fun and it wasn't as hard as i thought it would be. all the training paid off!
check me out! i look much cuter running now than i did five years ago. i have some work to do, maybe starting with some headphones that stay in my ears and don't scream at people as i run by.
after my 10k, we attended our second wedding (ever!). it was really nice! they had it at the juniper serra museum (the bride is an art historian). it was really interesting. the cocktail hour even included sparkling cider so that jon and i didn't feel left out while jeno double fisted glasses of wine.

we call this series "drunk jon". jeno and i were laughing really hard, but jon was not. if jon drank, this might be what he would look like doing it.
the best part of the wedding for me were the toasts; there were a few really good ones. the bride's older sister gave a toast and started talking about kyle (the groom who used to work with jeno and jon in the MC). she said that when paige first started dating him he was a hot bad boy, then he started to clean up and now he's just hot. she went on and on about how hot he was until the crowd and her sisters started cheering and making fun of her. this caused her to finish her toast with "okay, you guys ruined it. have a nice life." so hilarious!
i saw this on pinterest the night we got back from the wedding and it was so perfect. we ate wayyyy too much chips and salsa at the wedding. the waitresses kept refilling our baskets and we all ate so much we got sick.
as previously mentioned, the j's share our passion for food, so the next day we went to fudd's. they love fuddrucker's just a smidge more than we do, but we can never turn down a burger.
lynn and jeno named their little one after jon. when she found out she was having a boy, they knew they wanted to name him trevor but didn't have a middle name. for months, jon would refer to him as trevor jon as a joke. they surprised us when he was born by giving him Trevor Jon as his official name. very cute!
the best part about seeing the j's is all the laughter that ensues, the worst part about seeing the j's is saying goodbye to them. fortunately, we have st. george to look forward to the second week of april!!!!
