primrose is one!

how cute is this announcement? my sister in law made it!!!! she is talented.
we took a risk and celebrated Prim's birthday outside! it rained off and on all day but was great weather during the party. this is in our backyard, john and kathy got it cleaned up and put down the mulch! so nice.

we haven't given prim real sugar yet and didn't want to do a cake smash, so the party was fruit themed. we started giving her fruit at about 11 months in moderation so that she could enjoy some at her party and boy did she.
jon made this cute little vase! i'm so proud:)
she loved the watermelon and pineapple the most i think. as you can see, she got a scratch right before her party. she fell under someone else's care.........right onto a branch.
john and kathy got her a swing! i don't even think they knew how much she loves swinging, it was the perfect gift for her!
okay at the end of her party she was looking like a ragamuffin, promise she's not homeless. she fell again and got a huge scratch on her forehead. i'd say that's what we get for having her party around a campfire, but both falls were out on the driveway. poor baby.
playing with the new toy from aunt kaitlyn.
i sent my sister katie a text saying "one year ago today". because on the 14th last year, we had a bonfire and i went into labor that night. she said "what a difference a year makes". i said:
"yeah...." haha. pregnant again.
jon's cousin and her kids were in town over the weekend and prim was in heaven! they were so sweet with her.
her birthday was the next day, sunday! she is almost always this happy. if she isn't this happy, she's at least content.
she loves her dada. sometimes while we are all hanging out she'll say "dada?" he'll say "yes, baby?" and she'll say "dada?" when i get her dressed i tell her to go show daddy your outfit and she runs to him and shows him.
i think she loves her mama too. just recently she's started saying mama more often and it makes me want to cry with happiness. when i get home or when i get her out of her crib she says "mama!!!!" she is such a sweetheart and she is so well behaved. we got unbelievably lucky with her and tell her every single day how she's such a good girl. she repeats or tries to repeat everything you say. on the morning of her birthday she said "happy birthday" (and hasn't said it since). that day we  taught her to say happy and now if we ask her to say it she says "happy happy happy!!!" she's walking and getting faster every day. we are all amazed at how smart she is. one of my favorite things is asking her to say something and she stares at my lips as i say it then tries to repeat it herself. the night before her birthday party, i tried giving her a bottle and she kept pushing it away. we'd been weaning her off for about two weeks, and that was the final one. i was dismal getting her off her bottle, but she really has been doing great on all food and milk. i could go on and on about how much i love this child. she is heaven sent, an angel in a baby's body. we are grateful every single day for her. happy first birthday to our little angel baby!!!!

thanksgiving 2014 vs 2015

last year, thanksgiving was when i was at my lowest health wise.
this was my view for a week. here we are at 5pm, after some procedures that i don't really remember and before the hida scan.
i don't think i had feelings about the holiday, but i do remember asking my dad to bring prim's turkey sockies for her to wear! too big and soo cute.
dr. simpson is who delivered prim just a week and a half earlier.
i think the dr's were sort of getting desperate by this time and started ordering every procedure they could think of. i slept for an hour during the hida scan and any time i woke up during it i dreamed of drinking water. the guy doing the scan promised i could have a water bottle when i was finished. i was so relieved to be done and immediately asked for a one and he looked at jon who told me i was going right into surgery for a d&c and i couldn't drink anything. the OR was totally empty except for the doctors and nurses working with me. my dad was home with the rest of the family eating thanksgiving dinner and jon was in the waiting room. toward the end of my surgery, my dad and jon's dad brought him his thanksgiving dinner.
this was at 10 pm. i'd survived my procedure and got to hold my baby! i look like i'm in pretty good spirits and this is the first thing i kind of remember.
this was at midnight while i was getting a blood transfusion. i'd lost a lot of blood while i gave birth so i got a liter of blood. the next day i got another liter since i lost even more blood during the d&c. so thankful for people who donate their blood! although this was my lowest, it was also my turning point. the d&c as well as the HIDA scan showed nothing abnormal. the doctors think that the full day of not breastfeeding and getting two blood transfusions is what helped tremendously.
this year we woke up and went to a church activity. it is tradition that the ward does a 5k up to the temple and a one mile walk through the park thanksgiving morning. two years ago we ran to the temple and this year jon, kathy, prim and i walked through the park. we were really late so we weren't following anyone and got lost so actually ended up walking two miles. when we got home, prim went down for a nap and jon and i watched catching fire while stuffing graduation announcement envelopes! thanksgiving dinner was pleasant although prim was done after about twenty minutes and grandpa (who isn't feeling well) was done about ten minutes after that. our dinner was pretty quick and we didn't even have time to say what we were thankful for! after dinner we played with prim and visited, then jon and i went to old navy for some quick christmas shopping!
it was a laid back and pleasant/healthy thanksgiving. i'm so grateful to be home with my family and able to walk two miles. last year walking to the bathroom was a huge feat. i'm thankful to have Jon. thankful for a healthy baby girl and a healthy and growing baby boy/girl in the belly. i'm very blessed!

maternity photos! baby #2

we had the opportunity to model for a photography conference in san antonio. our payment was 5 photos, but she actually sent us 15!
october 9, 2015
(i think Jon looks like jason sudeikis in this)
it was SO HOT while we were doing this. the photographer leading the class would pose us and take a quick photo, then let her 30 students come in front of us and all take some with the location/lighting she chose. it was very interesting and actually kind of exhausting. i could not be an actual model!
this one is my favorite. i wore the necklace jon got me for our first valentine's day as a married couple. he bought it all the way from afghanistan and i think i got it the day before V day. my bracelet is one of two he got me for graduation.
the photographer said "it is very texas to have plants in the front of the shot and the subject behind". way funny.
all in all, it was a fun experience and we appreciated her sending more photos then she needed to!
her name is mae burke.
october 10, 2015
the very next day we had family photos scheduled with a lady from church! she hardly charged us and did such a good job! she does it as a hobby.
poor baby didn't get an afternoon nap and was NOT her usual self for the shoot! i was bummed but Mindy did an amazing job capturing the moments when Prim wasn't making faces or throwing a fit. primmy could not get over my red lipstick.

handsome devil!!!
jon got her to not cry by singing the itsy bitsy spider in swedish. the second he starts to sing it she moves her hands around and dances. even if you say the title of the song she gets excited.
we used this one for her birthday announcement. so beautiful.
i love this face.
32 weeks.
i didn't think anything of this photo until earlier today when i showed my old manager and she said "you don't show this to a lot of people do you?" her husband used to throw their kids a lot, but i guess pictures like this cause controversy. no babies were hurt.
hey, a smile!
we took the pictures out in our backyard again and although it was the same scenery as my maternity photos last year, they turned out totally different. i wish prim would have been a little bit more smiley, but i can't be mad at that cute face and she wasn't crying so i can't complain! i'm so grateful for mindy for taking these for us.
