the month of june! san antonio status

well, jon drove from arizona to san antonio straight through. we didn't get home until 5am the next day. he literally drove for like 20 hours straight. we knew our drive would require lots of stops with this little baby. she'd sleep, wake up and cry so we'd pull over, feed her and let her get fresh air for awhile then get back in the car. she did so good!! our final stop was to feed her and put her in her jammies around 8, her normal bedtime. that's about when i fell asleep too and jon drove solo until we got home. i would not recommend that, my friends. sketchy, but hey-we made it.

this was the day after our long drive. hard to believe you'd be tired after sleeping for almost two days straight!!! when we got home she started to say "bah bah bah". she went to sleep not knowing how to say it, and when she woke up that's all she was saying. it is so amazing to see this child literally learn something new every day. 

this was also around the time that she really seemed like she was going to crawl. i recorded her so much thinking i'd see her just get up and go. little did i know, it would be weeks before she actually did.

i stare at her while she sleeps. this little thing is going to break my heart.

started getting more hair than we knew what to do with!!!!!!

swimming with daddy at nobu. this pool is pretty cool, but she always did really well. it would take her a minute to get used to the temperature then she'd be fine for awhile until she started to shiver and we'd go home!!! she and i spent quite a few days there sitting on the ledge behind jon. it wasn't really hot enough to get in every time. 

here she is playing with ice in her bumbo on the deck. she loved doing that. 

she started doing this weird fake smile/grimace and it was so funny! this is the best picture i got of it. i swear she would do this when i would be trying to make her laugh and it simply wasn't funny. she would do it a lot to people she didn't see very often as well. it was like a sympathy smile for at least trying to get her to laugh. 

you guys, i can't. this is when she was still sleeping with us in the mornings and napping probably once a day in our bed. this was before we sleep trained her, so i would have a hard time getting her to fall asleep. she would almost always fall asleep if i cuddled up next to her and pulled the comforter up by our faces. this is also around the time i posted a photo of her on her photo stream wrapped up in lots of blankets. i got a firm talking to not only from my father in law, but from my step mother in law the next day. sometimes she wouldn't fall asleep until i bundled her up in blankets! she'd almost always fall asleep within minutes, then i'd go in and take all the blankets off of her (mostly so she wouldn't sweat to death) and let her sleep next to pillows so she wouldn't roll. needless to say, she stopped sleeping in our bed pretty soon after this :( 

jon got primmy a little jacket to match his. he's really into patches right now and jackets that have velvro areas to attach the patches! it looks so cute on her and the little kid patches are smaller and have brighter colors. she doesn't appreciate them yet, but she will. 

the draper temple where we got married. the middle is an image i bought for us before we got married ."love you so so so much" and the one on the end i bought for her a few days before she was born. "and baby makes three". 

wow, i can't even explain how much it rained this month. it just rained. and rained. and rained. fortunately, there was no damage done to our house or property. a lot of other people northwest of us were not so lucky. 

our little 7 month old angel baby!

lizzie got this dress in Vanuatu. how cute??? it looked amazing on her and was unfortunately the only time she got to wear it. it was so stuck on her that i had to cut the underarm seam in order to get it off of her. that was traumatizing. if teeny is a girl, i'll put this on her when she's much smaller to avoid what we all went through.

we worked so hard on this! we painted over it probably ten times. jon liked it!

father's day twinnies.

LOOK AT THIS!!! i was getting ready while she was at my feet, and she grabbed my leg and started licking it. i am so obsessed with her.

at the end of june we went out to Jacob's well with our friends, the vinton's. it was so cool! in the last picture you can see the well, the middle spot where i think it's about 25 feet deep. people would cliff jump from the top. the rest of it was around 4 or 5 feet, really slippery with moss and pretty cool water. prim baby liked it, she was good in the water and out of the water. also, jon got braces!! his retainer broke while he was in the MTC and his teeth have been shifting ever since. rachel (pictured above) has a brother in law orthodontist here and he is pretty inexpensive so she referred us there. i'd been wanting jon to get braces for awhile because he was self conscious of their shift and why not while he's in school? the ortho said he'd have them on for 4-6 months, hopefully he was being truthful.........

utah and homeward bound!

when we got back to salt lake, we celebrated our 5th anniversary! my dad and katie watched Prim and Jon and I went to bruges waffles and frites for appetizers which actually turned into dessert! then we went to the copper onion and shared a burger and fries which was soo good!

prim wouldn't go to bed as easily as we hoped she would, but we were secretly happy that she was awake when we got home. we took her outside and she helped us let go of each of the five balloons one by one. each one representing another year of marriage, each better than the last. 

my dad likes to get prim up in the morning and get her dressed (and i like to sleep in a little bit!). almost every night, even in normal life, i pick out prim's outfit for the next day and leave it on her changing pad so the morning is easy. when i came down to see my babe, she was wearing her headband on backward. ah but still so cute!

baby alex came to visit with mike and kim! they are the best friends, they always cater to us while we are in town. that really is not necessary, but we appreciate it so much. 

they are four months apart. don't they looks alike with their pale skin and bald heads?? so cute!

kim text me and said that mike got teeny a present (we told them a few weeks previous that we were expecting again!). i didn't think it was weird at all. i opened the card and it said something along the lines of "we know the perfect gift for your new baby..." i pulled out a tiny onesie and on it read "A new friend!!! baby bird coming december 2015!"!!!!! i was not expecting that at all and freaked out! i am so excited for them!!!! all four of our babies are going to be so close in age, i hope they love it growing up as much as we have so far!

we always try to fit a good hike in with amanda while we are in town. this time we did the living room hike. it was both easy and hard and was the perfect challenge for us. poor jon was sick and was huffing and puffing in this crazy altitude that we aren't used to.

finally our babies get to meet! here is elliott checking prim out.

elliott wasn't too interested in prim, but he did such a good job sharing his toys with her! even if she was playing with a toy he wanted, he would just go get another one for himself. so sweet.

we got pictures with the cousins and couldn't resist getting a few of Prim by herself. the flag was Jon's idea.

this was one of the first times we did this with Prim and she loved it, haha!

all packed up. katie blessed us with all her baby toys Casper has grown out of. As usual, our car was packed to the actual brim.

as we were passing Payson i remembered the new temple! so we did a very brief detour in order to pass it. so beautiful.

we drove straight to the grand canyon! neither of us had ever been before and thought that was a real shame. we only spent an hour or so there.

from there, we drove to John and Kat's which was a couple hours away. they are spending the summer at his parents house while John trains with Edward Jones. it was so good to see them and although they both had to wake up ridiculously early, they waited for us and stayed up to chat! Prim was an angel on the drive and visited with us until we were all ready to go to bed. it was pretty late so it took awhile, but she finally fell asleep between us. such a dear. 

2nd trimester, baby #2!!

here i am at 26 weeks. i can't believe how quickly this pregnancy is going compared to the first! i am so grateful to prim for keeping me so preoccupied and happy.

(16 weeks)

i am still feeling really good. my stomach is starting to get pretty cramped and it's not comfortable to bend over. i can squat and pick stuff up, but bending over puts weird pressure on my stomach and bladder. i think this started happening earlier than it did with my first. i keep telling jon "i can't believe i _____ already!" and he says "a.j., i don't think you realize how far along you are." i guess he is probably right. everything seems to be happening earlier, but i think it is just because it was this time last year that it was happening so it doesn't seem like enough time has passed, if that makes sense. i got pregnant so quickly that i don't remember what normal is. hard to explain.

(18.5 weeks)

the summer went by way too fast. we had tons of plans to swim all the time, but that just didn't happen. i definitely started wearing maternity clothes earlier than i did last pregnancy. at the beginning of the second trimester i started feeling fat and not cute yet. my small clothes didn't fit and my maternity stuff didn't fit right either. at 12 weeks i went to the temple store without prim. i was wearing a maternity shirt with my skirt and the lady at the register congratulated me and asked how far along i was. i thought that was pretty bold of her, but figure it was probably obvious because of the scrunching on my maternity shirt. she's the only one who congratulated me for a long time and i think it's because Prim wasn't there. when i was pregnant with her, people were commenting on it ALL the time from when i just barely started to show. now people are afraid to say anything when they see my belly and see my little baby. they aren't sure if i'm still trying to work off my baby weight! 

(20 weeks)

my belly really popped while amanda was here at the end of july/beginning of august. i said "look at my belly!" and she said "yeah, that was not there when i got here" and she was only here for a total of 5 days. now that i've popped and its increasingly obvious that i'm pregnant, people have started to congratulate us and prim. i had expected people to say weird things about having a baby so soon and babies so close in age, but i haven't been offended or surprised by anything that's been said so far! 

(23 weeks)

i worked out pretty consistently until around 22 weeks when our jogging stroller got a flat tire. i was walking at least 3 or 4 times a week and then doing push ups and other arm work outs. since the tire popped i've had a really hard time doing cardio. i only go when jon comes with me because her normal stroller is really heavy and hard to push on our drive way. that sounds super lame, but you have no idea how long and bumpy/hilly our driveway is. it takes about 10 minutes to get from the house to the main road and by the time i get there i already want to turn around, haha. i'm dedicated to getting back into walking and doing easy work outs though, hoping it'll help get back to my normal size after teeny gets here. 

(24.5 weeks)

mid august we went on a gap shopping spree (thanks to emma for the coupons!) for me and prim. i desperately needed post baby clothes and don't want to have to deal with it when i have two babies, no time and no money-ha. we got clothes for prim for her to grow into next year and even got one item for teeny. a little white fuzzy snowsuit that is to die for. we put prim in one her size and lost it. she looked so cute, but it wasn't practical with her crawling and starting to walk. teeny is going to look SO cute in it! this is so far the only thing we have bought specifically for him/her!!

(25 weeks)
while lizzie was in town we got to have our big ultrasound! our doctor prefers to do them as late as possible (we are never in a hurry since we don't find out the gender) so that she can do the anatomy scan when the baby is pretty big and she can see it clearly. we went on tuesday september 1st and it was the cutest thing in the world. it was so much better than prim's ultrasound (i think the doctor was rushed with her). she let us just look at teeny moving on the screen. it's little hands were up by its face twitching and moving and he/she was opening and closing its mouth. at one point prim looked at the screen and giggled. for the most part it seems like she is oblivious, but there are little tiny moments like this where i think she knows more than we think she does. we could see that teeny has chubby little cheeks like prim did and it looks pretty bald so far! (as if we really know) it was really exciting and special that both lizzie and prim got to be there. jon and i are over the moon excited about this new baby coming into our lives. we have enjoyed prim so much from day one (okay maybe like day 14) and can't wait to experience it all again with prim in tow. we are all three so lucky.
