Wedding: Reception

it rained on my wedding day. 

i had the reception all planned for outside. 

there was a tent with cafe lights, i was going to string pictures in between the trees, 

jon and i were going to be in a gazebo, etc etc etc....

none of that happened. 

we moved the reception indoors. 

and this is how it went.

it was such a stress deciding what to have them wear. 

finally i just told the boys to wear black ties with any suit, 

and the girls to wear any yellow top and any black shoes and skirts.

i love how they looked.

jon and i were in between homes and weren't able to attend. :(

our cake was made by a lady in our ward. kind of last minute.

i loved how it turned out. 

i may or may not have gotten in trouble for this little maneuver.

i must have surprised him.

as you can see by the piece of cake jumping off the plate.  

but he loves me anyway:)

after we cut the cake, amanda gave a little speech and introduced jon and i for our first dance.

it was so cute and i wouldn't have wanted anyone else to do it.

after we cut the cake, had our first dance, and danced with our parents,

the real party began.

this was my favorite part of the whole day.

barb was loving it so much. she is so cute. 

after what seemed like two minutes, my dad came up to me and told me that jon and i needed to go get ready to leave. i was so sad to have it end. he promised that we could dance to one more song.

i loved it so much when halfway through the song, i looked over to see this-

my dad and mei, dancing like THIS to eenie meenie. sooo funny!!!

amanda made our going away sign. she is such a classy lady.

it was so stressful planning the wedding and when i got to the reception, i felt like it was all in crumbles.

even a few days after i was still sad that it didn't end up being exactly how i'd planned it and i felt like i wasted all that time.

but when i look at these pictures, they make me so happy.

i didn't get to use the cafe lights and i didn't have the outdoor wedding i've always wanted.

i DID marry the man of my dreams, and i did have the funnest night i've ever had. 

and looking back, i wouldn't change a SINGLE thing!

everyone kept telling me that rain on your wedding day was good luck.

it pissed me off, but so far it seems true.

6 weeks later, we're still happily married!

Wedding: Mid-day.

when i very first started planning the wedding, i knew that i wanted time in between the ceremony and the reception for just jon and i.

i always hear from people that their wedding day went by so fast.

and to make sure you spend time with each other that day.

so we did just that!!

right when we got out of the temple, it was a windy mess.

my veil blew off, my hair...oh my hair...

it was so cold that we all left pretty quickly.

i think jon and i got to the hotel at about 1pm.

we stayed at The Peery Hotel downtown.

i've always wanted to stay there, and that was one of the first things we decided in the wedding planning. we would spend a night there :)

we walked into the hotel, me in my church clothes, jon in his uniform.

they gave us a free upgrade. i'm not sure if it was the uniform, or the fact that we just got married. either way, it was a beautiful room.

we ordered room service for lunch and just hung out for a few hours.

i highly recommend keeping your wedding day pretty simple.

it was so nice to be able to hang out with my new HUSBAND and not feel rushed or feel like we're needing to be somewhere or in contact with anyone. it was perfect.

Alex Messerly did my hair that day.

she is such a doll and so fun to work with!

she did my hair for my bridals, and she came to my house oh so early the day of the wedding.

she and the photographer came to the hotel room at about 3 to touch up and take photos.

alex re-did my hair and touched up my make up that amanda had done that morning.

i love this picture. look at Jon in his wedding shoes, dress pants, and t shirt just watching tv. so cute.

we walked around downtown before we went to the reception to get some photos of the two of us. it was fun and the weather was a lot nicer than it was in draper.

(Kalie DeMann made my bouquet for my bridals, and for the wedding day. both bouquets were BEAUTIFUL)

just a day in the life of the Kennedy's.

this is us leaving the hotel. i wanted the photographer to get pictures of jon opening his wedding present from me. i think the pictures turned out darling.
